Introduction to PCB depaneling mothods

 

PCB depaneling methods are divided into 4 categories, category A - Manual breaking; Class B - straight line (V-CUT PCB cutting machine); Class C - milling cutter (PCB router machine); Class D - Laser cutting(PCB laser depaneling machine). The distinguishing method is the connection method of boards. What kind of boards should be used?

 

PCB depaneling mode:

  Class A - Manual breaking

Advantages: fast efficiency.

 Disadvantages: manual breaking may cause damage to stress sensitive components - large cutting stress (800 ~ 1800 μ S)

◆ Class B - straight line (V-CUT PCB depaneling machine): it is divided into two types, knife moving type and PCB moving type.

Knife type: suitable for PCB depaneling operation with multiple connecting boards and hollowed out in the middle.

PCB moving type: it is suitable for straight-line V-CUT and PCB cutting without hollowing out

Advantages: low cost, simple operation and fast speed.

Disadvantages: it can be divided in a straight line, and some burrs will remain - medium cutting stress (500 ~ 750 μ S)

 Class C – milling cutter (PCB depaneling router machine): the board connected by stamp holes or support points in the middle of the PCB board. Through the writing of the program, the PCB board is divided by knife.

Advantages: any shape of plate can be divided, the stress is very small, and the edge of the cutting is free of burrs - small cutting stress (100 ~ 200 μ S)

 Class D – laser depaneling (PCB laser cutting machine): it is a non-contact depaneling way for precise PCB cutting to avoid damage.

Advantanges: No cutting stress, no dust, no noise, smooth cutting edge.

Disadvantages: machine cost is high.
